Desiree Perez as CEO of Roc Nation
Roc Nation is an army, better yet a navy, ok that’s partly from an old song but in a sense, Roc Nation seems as if it’s an army. An unstoppable force in the world of entertainment, Roc Nation’s name is synonymous with excellence. One of Roc Nation’s founders just so happens to be none other than Shawn Carter, better known to the world as Jay- Z (or “Hov” as he’s often called). When Mr. Carter was a platinum-selling hip hop artist, Roc-A-Fella Records(the label he was on and helped start along with Dame Dash and Kareem Burke) became one of the biggest if not the biggest label in the world during its height. “The Roc” as it was called would later turn into Roc Nation and just as the record label had every artist wanting to sign, Roc Nation has that same effect, representing a nice list of big (and small) names on their roster.
Desiree Perez has been a part of Roc Nation since 2008. She even recalls there only being five employees at one point. Things have changed since those days. After working as COO for ten years, Desiree Perez became CEO of Roc Nation in 2019, now employees hundreds of people. Not to be changed due to a different title, Desiree Perez’s focus is the same now as it has always been, she wants to do what’s in the best interest of the company. Her focus and dedication helped carry the company from negative to positive revenue. For Desiree, running Roc Nation comes down to precise planning and setting the right short and long-term strategies. As well as supporting the company’s artists and employees, she’s focused on one of the company’s longtime priorities; social justice. One of the best as what she does, Desiree Perez is a forward-thinking innovator who strives to do what’s right not only for her company but also for the world.
